Our Home Family Resource Center has received a grant from the Dominion Energy Charitable Foundation. These funds were awarded for support of Our Home’s Direct Services & Referral Program and its efforts to meet critical community needs such as food, shelter, and medical costs.
Assistance through the Direct Services Program is available for any Mercer County resident with a household income below 200% national poverty rate. Examples of the critical issues that the Direct Services team respond to include: medical costs and transportation needs, emergency shelter, household expenses or evictions, and home repairs.
Direct Services also runs an on-site food pantry stocked with canned fruits and vegetables, meat, pastas, soup, milk, and other assorted items. Personal care items such as soap, shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste, toilet paper and diapers are also provided through the pantry.
This grant will provide valuable support for Our Home’s on-going efforts to help Mercer County residents overcome emergencies or respond to unexpected expenses; last year, we logged over 1900 incidents, providing folks direct financial assistance and referrals to partner agencies, along with nutritional and personal care support.
