While many Mercer County youth are excitedly selecting new clothes, backpacks, and other school supplies some children in our area are experiencing stress. Their stress stems from the understanding that it is going to be challenging for their family to meet even their most basic educational supply needs.
In response to this, Our Home Family Resource Center is once again spearheading a Back-To-School Supply Project for children in Mercer County.
This effort will bring individuals, churches, and businesses from across the county together to provide new book bags stocked with essential school supplies for low-income students so that they can join their peers in returning to school with excitement and confidence. Last year this project provided school supplies to over 300 children in Celina, Parkway, Coldwater, Ft. Recovery, St. Henry, and Mercer County Head Start.
Folks who would like to support the 2019 Back-To-School Supply Project are encouraged to donate any of the following: book bags (new), solid color pocket folders, glue bottles/sticks, Crayola markers, colored pencils, 24 count crayons, zipper school pouches, filler paper (wide rule), #2 pencils (not mechanical), erasers, red ink pens, pointed scissors, black dry erase markers, highlighters, and ear buds (most needed items in bold font). Monetary donations are also accepted, and will be used toward purchase of items necessary to meet the needs of applicants.

Donations will be accepted through August 5th and may be dropped off at Our Home during regular business hours Monday through Thursday. Volunteers will then sort and pack the donations for pick-up by families at Celina First Church of God on August 13th and 14th.
Parents/guardians of students who would like assistance with school supplies must sign-up at Our Home Family Resource Center before August 1st. Registration is required so that we can provide the children with supplies that meet requirements for their school district and grade level. To register for supplies, simply stop by Our Home Monday through Thursday, 8:30-12:00 & 1:00-4:30.
