The CPPS Heritage Mission Fund has renewed its grant to Our Home Family Resource Center’s Direct Services & Referral program. The CPPS Fund was created by the Sisters of the Precious Blood in Dayton, Ohio to support groups and organizations that are responding to community needs in a way consistent with Precious Blood values and spirituality.

This grant recognizes the Direct Services program’s commitment to providing Mercer County residents with hope in the midst of crisis, and the funds from this grant will lend a great measure of hope to folks who are going through times of frustration, fear, and insecurity. People who contact Direct Services for assistance meet with a family support specialist to evaluate the situation and to create a plan to meet their specific needs. The family support specialist may provide folks with vouchers for emergency financial assistance and/or refer them to partner agencies and programs for other forms of support that may be needed to stabilize the situation.

Over the past year, Direct Services staff provided assistance in over 1500 situations and distributed tens of thousands of dollars in financial support to families in need. This includes help for folks facing eviction or utility shut-off, unexpected home repairs or prescription costs, and those who needed help getting to medical appointments. In addition to that, program staff coordinated and administrated Mercer County’s back-to-school supply drive, winter coat drive, and Angel Tree project.

Our Home also offers a food pantry stocked with canned fruits and vegetables, meat, pastas, soup, milk, and other assorted items including personal care items such as detergent, soap, shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste, and toilet paper.

Direct Services & Referral Program hours are 8:30am-12:00pm & 1:00pm-4:30pm Monday through Thursday; the food pantry operates Tuesday and Thursday from 9:30am-12:00pm and 1:00pm-3:00pm.

As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, the organization’s work is possible with resources provided through monetary and in-kind donations from private individuals, groups, organizations, and corporations and money awarded through grants such as CPPS Heritage Mission Fund.
