Join Our Team! We are accepting applications for a Family & Children First Coordinator – Deadline to apply is January 31st. The responsibility of the Family and Children First Coordinator of each county is to work with families who have children with special needs, either physical, educational, emotional or other, with the primary goal of reducing out-of-home placement for these children. This involves coordinating the services provided to these families, holding service coordination meetings with the parents and service providers, and keeping in contact with the parties involved.
Mercer County’s Family and Children First Coordinator works out of Our Home Family Resource Center in Celina, with the help and support of Our Home’s Director. The Family and Children First program typically coordinates services with area schools, with local mental health services, and with Mercer County Children Services and Job and Family Services. Depending upon the needs of the family, the coordinator may also work with health care providers or other agencies that provide services.
A number of reports and applications are required by the state of Ohio for the Family and Children First program, and the coordinator is responsible for these, as well as keeping track of the program’s budget and funds for the year.
The coordinator provides a contract service to Our Home; as such, the position pays an hourly rate without payroll taxes being withheld. Although not technically an employee, the coordinator works closely with the staff at Our Home.
The time requirement is an average of 15 hours per week; summer hours are usually less than during the school year when there are more services to coordinate for the families. The position is ideal for a qualified person who is particularly seeking part-time employment.

Experience/Certification Required: Minimum associate degree in social work, education, mental health or related field.
