In stark contrast to Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday stands as a reminder (and a testament) that there is much more to the holiday season in America than consumerism and commercialization.
If you are seeking ways to respond, here are a few meaningful ways your #GivingTuesday can provide support for programs and projects at Our Home Family Resource Center:
1. You can donate. Visit https://www.ourhomefrc.com/donate/ for Direct ‘Donate’ Link (credit card) or Address & Mailing Information (cash or checks)
We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that seeks to provide for and inspire change in individuals and families throughout Mercer County. Our Home’s work is carried out through a handful of distinct programs all designed to assist individuals and families during periods of frustration, fear, separation, or insecurity (Family Crisis Network, Direct Services & Referral, RAFT Visitation Center, and Family & Children First Council).
We also administer a number of vital county-wide projects including Back to School Supply Drive, “Winter Warmth Day” Coat Drive, and Mercer County Angel Tree.
We see, first hand, the positive impact that our programs can have in the lives of area residents and we believe that there is room to expand our outreach and increase this positive influence. You can trust that your donation will make a direct impact in someone’s life – lending folks a hand during their time of crisis is a vital, necessary step toward Empowering Them to Grow from Crisis to Hope!
2. You can organize a donation drive. Some groups & organizations have set up collection sites and challenged their members or clients to donate personal care items and/or cash for Our Home’s Direct Services Program.
Beyond the customary items such as toilet paper, shampoo, stick deodorant, liquid detergent, bar soap, and toothpaste you might consider seeking donations of feminine products (tampons and sanitary napkins), diapers, and/or baby wipes.
3. You can get involved in Mercer County Angel Tree. Visit https://www.ourhomefrc.com/donate/ for details.
You can take tags and play Santa by picking out clothes and/or toys for boys and girls, or you can call to volunteer for set-up or shopping day.
4. You can purchase and donate items from our “Wish List”. We routinely post a list of specific and most urgent needs for the food pantry on our website => https://www.ourhomefrc.com/donate/
Whichever route you choose, we sincerely thank you for your gift. You can trust that we will be responsible stewards of any resources that you provide us. We consider ourselves the conduit, the necessary connection between those in need and people who wish to help them. People just like you!
