On December 2, 2014 the Mercer County Help Me Grow program held their annual Winter Celebration. This year’s theme was “A Frozen Winter Wonderland” and fun was had by all. The families had an opportunity to enjoy a family home style dinner with all the trimmings. Santa Claus made a visit from the North Pole to talk with the children and they had their picture taken with him.
The families visited several activity stations to enjoy the fun for their readiness for the holidays. Some of the stations were to color, cut out snowflakes; parents helped their children with this project. Barb Hennard from the OSU Extension office assisted the children and families to trace their hands prints and make reindeer antlers, along with reindeer food. The children also had fun making snowmen made with marshmallow, graham crackers and icing.
The families and staff of Mercer County Help Me Grow program would like to extend a big thank you to all the local businesses that donated towards the delicious meal. The following businesses donated food items for the meal Cooper Farms, CJ Highmark’s, KFC Restaurant, Home Bakery, Orchard Tree, Bella’s Italian Grille, and Celina American Legion. Wal-Mart donated a gift card, and for Saint John Lutheran Church for the use of the Fellowship Hall. Along with the staff members and the businesses help made this special time of year a huge success.
The staff and their families of Mercer County Help Me Grow program extend a bright healthy New Year wishes to all.
